Amba Salelkar, Inclusive Planet

July 2013 to present: Inclusive Planet Centre for Disability Law and Policy, Chennai

The Centre is focused on promoting advocacy on issues concerning persons with disabilities, and examining legislation and policy – both current and upcoming - for instances of discrimination against persons with disabilities, promotion of inclusion, principles of universal design and accessibility for all, and overall compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with law makers.

Amba’s advocacy experience at IPCDLP, includes preparing Policy Notes on draft legislation and policy formulated by the Government of India and circulating the same among around 50 individuals and organizations working with persons with disabilities across India, and around the world, for inputs on how these legislation and policies can be made inclusive.

Dheepakh Parthasarathy

Dheepakh is a journalist working with The Hindu. He is the honorary President for an organisation called Ektha, which is focusing on the rights of persons with developmental disabilities and Intellectual impairments.

Livingston, Vasantham Federation, Tiruvallur

Livingston is the President of Vasantham Federation, which is working towards promotion of federations of persons with disabilities. Mr. Livingston has a very good network with local decision makers and policy makers.

He has facilitated formulation of many village level self help groups.

Punitha Suresh

Punitha works at The Banyan looking at skill training and employment of people with psychosocial disabilities. She has completed an International Diploma in Mental Health and Human Rights. Her achievements include being a speaker in the seminar organised by Higher Education cell, centre for study of culture and society(cscs) Bangalore.(In colloboration with Christ University, Bangalore and Psychoanalytic therapy and Research centre (PTRC) Mumbai)in Bangalore – 2008.

Punitha has also participated in many of consultations on the Laws related to persons with disabilities organised by various organisations across the country.

Pooja Parvati, Wada Na Todo Abhiyan

Campaign Lead – Post-2015 Agenda, Wada Na Todo Abhiyan (WNTA), New Delhi (Feb 2013 onwards)

Focus area(s): Coordinating Wada Na Todo Abhiyan’s campaign on the post-2015 development agenda; managing day-to-day activities, personnel and other reporting requirements of the campaign; facilitate building consensus on the post-2015 development agenda among the civil society

Research Coordinator, Centre for Budget & Governance Accountability (CBGA), New Delhi (Mar 09 – Jan 13)

Focus area(s): Coordinating the research carried out by CBGA, editing and finalising CBGA research outputs, carry out research in - public provisioning for education, analysis of constraints in utilisation of funds in government programmes, and gender budgeting, part of CBGA’s advocacy and capacity building efforts, and assist the Executive Director with liasing with funders, writing proposals and other related institutional reporting requirements

Rajiv Rajan, Vidya Sagar

Consultant, Advocacy of SMRC, Bhubaneshwar

Coordinator, Disability Law Unit, South (from 2003). The focus of this unit is to create awareness among people with and without disability about the rights of people with disability and provide legal assistance for the people with disability in entire South India.

Coordinates a team of 5 members with different disabilities and experiences and exposures.

Plans and Budgets the activities of the department.

Strategizes all campaigns influencing the disability sector.

Spearheaded many policy reforms in the country.

Establishes network with people’s movement within and outside the country.
